About David

I was born in Subiaco and grew up in Wembley before moving to Subiaco nearly a decade ago. My wife Sally and I live in Shenton Park with our kids in a home we renovated. We value this City’s amenity and community. We get around by foot, bike or scooter wherever possible. The character, history, and greenery of our existing neighbourhoods, and areas of new development with their abundance of services and places to go, all combine to make it the perfect place for our young family.

I sought a seat on the Subiaco Council 4 years ago for that reason, I wanted to step forward and contribute my skills and time to help drive and improve all of those things that make this City such a great place to live and visit.

WHY I’M RUNNING FOR MAYOR

Having experienced the workings of Council and the City first-hand, I realise just how crucial it is to have good people leading Subiaco. We need a Mayor who will actively listen to all members of the Community and will not create division.

It is only through strong representation on Council led by a strong Mayor without political and personal motivation, that our way of life in Subiaco will flourish and the City will enjoy future success.

Our Council must provide accountable leadership and give our community comfort and security. All of us should be able to go about our daily lives – whether that is residents or businesses doing what they do best – without worrying about or being distracted by the direction that our City is taking.

What gives me the confidence to succeed as Mayor is my professional and legal knowledge, my governance and board experience and my experience working with my Council colleagues and City staff. I can operate comfortably and effectively in the heavily regulated local government space, with the ability to understand and resolve complex issues.

With energy and a focus on process improvement in a consultative and inclusive Council environment, as Mayor I can lead Subiaco to become a truly desirable and respected inner city for our young and older generations, our families and our businesses.

“Council needs a steadying influence at the helm. I want less division and controversy and no stunts. I want less waste, more value for money and better use of our resources. I want to lead a council that listens to and acts in the best interests of our community.”
